South Sudan | August 23, 2025

From June 10 to August 18, 2025, the South Sudan Council of Churches (SSCC), in collaboration with Christ Ambassadors for Peace and Intercessors for South Sudan, led a 70-day prayer and fasting journey. This season marked 70 years since the Torit conflict of 1955, a pivotal event in the nation’s history.

Theme:

“Fulfill Your good promises, O Lord!”

(Jeremiah 29:10–11)

Seven Spheres of Prayer:

Throughout these 70 days, churches and believers interceded across seven vital areas of national life:

  1. Family – for restoration, unity, and protection.
  2. Church – for revival, holiness, and witness.
  3. Governance – for justice, peace, and servant leadership.
  4. Economy – for provision, stewardship, and sustainability.
  5. Education – for wisdom, truth, and opportunity for all.
  6. Media – for truth-telling, reconciliation, and nation-building.
  7. Health – for healing, strength, and care for the vulnerable.

Conclusion: National Day of Prayer (August 23, 2025)

Today, August 23, the journey culminates with a National Day of Prayer, bringing together all member churches of the SSCC and believers across denominations.

  • We pray for peace, healing, and reconciliation across South Sudan.
  • We ask God for wisdom to resolve conflicts and for the healing of wounded communities.
  • We stand together in unity of the body of Christ, declaring hope and a new beginning for the nation.
  • We commit South Sudan’s future to God’s promises, trusting Him to fulfill His word and lead the nation into peace and prosperity.

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

(Jeremiah 29:11)
