In partnership with Finn Church Aid, the South Sudan Council of Churches conducted a two-day annual dialogue forum for religious leaders, youth and women of faith, and peace committee on their roles and participation in SSCC APP. The dialogue facilitated by Bishop Emeritus Arkanjelo Wani from the 6th – the 7th of June 2023 in Wau was attended by 34 participants.

The annual dialogue forum aimed to evaluate the advancement and accomplishments, deficiencies and execution, and difficulties in applying the Action Plan for Peace in the regional context. This was to facilitate information sharing on the implementation of APP by church leaders, women and youth of faith, and peace committees. They were also informed on the council’s strategic framework to enhance the progress in the implementation process.

Participants were cautioned on their role and understanding of the Action Plan for Peace and what they can do to foster the unity of the Church in Western Bahr el Ghazel state. They believe promoting social cohesion among the member churches and communities is prominent and urge the church leaders to preach unity and forgiveness. Furthermore, Church leaders have been urged to encourage the church to stand firm in advocating for the rights of the voiceless to peace and unity.
