At the inception of the R-ARCSS in 2018, the assumption was that by the end of the transitional period, there would be peace in South Sudan. We hoped that the permanent constitution would have been developed, all armed forces unified, IDPs settled, refugees returned home, and elections conducted, ushering the Country to embracing good governance. I do very well remember the words of Archbishop Oscar Romero which says that: “It is not God’s will for some to have everything and others to have nothing.” The people of South Sudan just want to have a simple, sustainable peace. May there be peace for the people of South Sudan.
